It was quite inspiring to see Mr. Gore deliver his energetic and passionate speech about climate change.  The Vice President reminded the audience that not enough has been done to mitigate the human causes for climate change and global warming despite increasing evidence that the situation has been worsening. But, the speech was basically an optimistic one in face of many new recent developments particularly in the political world. Mr. Gore elaborated on how the present economic crisis might be recast as an opportunity to make huge strides in solving the climate crisis. This could be achieved by putting in place the right economic incentives for the development of clean energy and alternative technologies as a way to revitalize the economy. There is still a long way to go to be firmly set in this direction but it is also clear that we got beyond good intentions and are beginning a policy debate that in the end will lead the country to take the important steps in wedding economic recovery and sustainability.
