As you make your way up to the second floor of Manhattan’s ABC Carpet and Home, a fresh, spacious, gallery feel radiates from the newly redone Merida boutique! For the last couple of months, I’ve worked closely with our VP of Sales, Paul Rizzo, and our New England Account Rep, Kim Stockwell, to design the space and highlight our most unique products.
As an artist and textile designer, I’ve always considered our rugs a work of art. I treated the space as if it were a gallery and placed large rugs on the white walls like paintings.
- The Pipeline Glacier rug on the floor leads you into the space.
- The beautiful texture of Appari Wildrice from the Abaca collection enhances the wall.
Below are some of my sketches and additional images of the space:
- The unique jacquard sisals from our Textura collection were placed right up front.
Before the redesign the space was filled with racks and rug samples, with some being placed on top of others over time. After the redesign the space is open and pleasing to the eye. Customers can easily walk through each collection without feeling overwhelmed and cramped. If you happen to be in the area you should swing by and see it for yourself, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks for sharing the new look of ABC gallery! It looks refreshing and I love the before and after photos. Oh, and the pencil sketch as well! I love seeing an idea on white paper, growing into a great idea, and transforms into beautiful gallery!
I love seeing the sketches- very “behind the scenes”. Looks beautiful and classy.
Maegan,
It looks great! It’s an impressive amount of space dedicated just to Merida Meridian in such a high traffic location!
I love it!! I wish I could see it in person
Great job everybody – it looks fantastic!
